Ryan Farrell
The work behind the work

I keep the client happy and the project on schedule.

For eight years I ran client relationships and project management at Hawk Visuals, a brand marketing agency serving hospitality, beverage and consumer brands. Two hundred plus projects a year, multi-year partnerships, and the operational backbone underneath all of it. Scopes, timelines, budgets from $10K to $100K, and the people on both sides of them.

Boston, Massachusetts. Available now for project management, creative operations and account management roles.

What I do

The person between the client and the team.

Accounts

Account management and client services

Learn a client's business fast, then become useful to it faster.

Multi-year relationships with founders and marketing leaders. Brand positioning, launch strategy, content ecosystems, and the honest weekly conversation about what is working. Retention comes from being the person they call before the problem gets big.

Project management

Project management

Scope it honestly, schedule it tightly, and land it on the day you said.

Scopes, timelines and budgets from $10K to $100K. Vendors, talent, permits and the twenty moving pieces nobody else wants to own. The timeline that holds when it is built around forty models and twenty nap schedules, and the weekly check-in that keeps the client from ever being surprised.

Operations

Creative operations

Systems that let a small agency deliver like a big one.

Workflow design, budgeting and forecasting, contracts, KPIs and margin. Cross-functional creative teams built and led. Ninety-five percent on-time delivery and 45 to 60 percent gross margins came from process, not heroics.

Experience

Built an agency from nothing. Learned hospitality from the floor up.

McGilvra's and Chieftain Irish Pub, Seattle

Restaurant Manager · 2013 to 2018

Front-of-house leadership in high-volume hospitality. Hiring, training, scheduling, inventory, vendors, and solving guest problems in real time. It is where the client-service instincts come from, and why hospitality and beverage brands feel like home.

Video marketing and production

2010 to 2013

Producer, editor and videographer for Universal Medical, Jamestown Distributors, Billy Black Photography and Maserati North America, including a Miami-to-New York shoot pairing two Maserati Sport Cabrios with a Maserati-built racing sailboat.

Before this, and alongside it

Roger Williams University, Bachelor's in Communications with a minor in Marine Biology. Founded the Planet Forward student news team that produced 44 videos on sustainability. Grew up in the Berkshires hunting, fishing and playing golf. Diving since eighteen, including a 120-foot wreck dive and a night dive in black water.

The hardest dive I ever did was off Salem in freezing, silted-out water. My partner and I locked arms so we would not lose each other. We found no lobster and everyone came up in one piece. Preparation and a good teammate get you through the days you cannot see the bottom. Same rule on set.

What clients say

In their words.

Working with Ryan Farrell has been an absolute pleasure. He didn't just bring our ideas to life on screen, he elevated them. He is also an exceptional manager and collaborator, keeping complex productions organized and on track while maintaining an easygoing, professional demeanor. He's a true idea man.
Katie Stinchon, Executive Director, Mass Brewers Guild
I have worked with Ryan on several campaigns to promote my mission of supporting underserved communities in the Boston area, and each time he has delivered exceptional work. He played a critical role in creating an educational video for Live Like A Local Tours Boston in 2020, bringing my vision to life with a collaborative mindset, thoughtful suggestions and a steady focus that helped us stay on track and meet every deadline. He is one of the best creative directors and project managers I have ever worked with.
